Smoking Popes are reissuing their breakout 1994 album Born to Quit, and along with the original tracks, they’re offering a cover of Willie Nelson‘s “Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground” as a bonus. We’ve got a free download of the tear jerker for you as a free download.

At first mention, some people may find this to be an odd cover for the Chicago punk-ish legends, but once you hear it, it falls right into place perfectly. In fact, if you isolated the vocals and laid them over Willie’s guitar work, it’d be a pretty close replication, but of course, it’s the band’s sound that puts the unique twist on this one.
